Product Review Beauty of Joseon: Glow Serum and Glow Deep Serum
When picking out beauty products, you probably want to read as many reviews as possible to get as much information as you can. That’s the only way to make yourself feel like you’re making the best choice, right? If you happen to be on the hunt for a serum that will get deep down into your skin and give you a moisturized glow, then you’re in the right place! I’m going to tell you all about two different serums from an incredible K-Beauty brand called Beauty of Joseon, the Glow Serum and the Glow Deep Serum. These serums have amassed a cult following all over the world, and it's easy to see why.
What is it made of?
K-Beauty is known for its use of high-quality and fast-acting ingredients, and these products are no exception. Beauty of Joseon’s brand is all about mixing Korean medicine with clean skincare ingredients to give highly effective formulations.
The main active ingredients for this Glow Serum are propolis extract, BHA, and niacinamide. Now, what do these ingredients do?
Propolis extract is the bulk (60% to be exact) of what this serum is composed of. Propolis is an ingredient that’s produced by bees. It’s a resin that bees use to cover their hives and, just like honey, it has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory capabilities. This actually makes it ideal for acne-prone skin. There are also plenty of polyphenols (the same stuff that makes dark chocolate and red wine “healthy”), which help to protect and revitalize your skin.
BHA (around 0.5%) is a gentle exfoliant, a necessary part of any glow-creating product. This helps to get rid of extra sebum, dirt and impurities for refined pores and a flawless complexion.
Niacinamide (2%) is a form of vitamin B3 and is another super effective anti-inflammatory and skin-rejuvenating ingredient.
Other key ingredients include sodium hyaluronate, turmeric root, tea tree, centella and vitamin E, all of which are stars when it comes to skin soothing, plumping and nourishing.
As for the Glow Deep Serum, the main ingredients are the same as above, but with an added bonus of 68.6% rice bran water and 2% alpha arbutin. These two ingredients target hyperpigmentation, help to reduce redness as well as minimizing melatonin production that may cause dark spots.
What does it do?
Alright, alright, we’ll get to the part you’re actually interested in now! How do you use this product and what can it do for your skin? I’m going to tell you about my own experience with this, to give you a guide of sorts.
I like to use these serums after cleansing and toning, and I switch between them depending on what my skin may need (like if I’m dealing with a lot of hyperpigmentation, I’ll use the Glow Deep Serum). The texture is pretty much the same for both, a luxuriously thick gel that soaks in quickly and acts fast. Using the dropper, I’ll just put a few drops onto my forehead and cheeks and then tap it until it’s fully absorbed. These babies leave you with a dewy, glowing finish. They can both be topped off with an SPF product of your choice without pilling, too!
Overall, I have to say that this pair of serums really is a good go-to item for any skin type, but it’s especially good for those looking for a little extra moisture and, of course, that perfect glow!
